Thin- slicing

With finishing up Chapter one, I realized that as humans we “thin-slice” the things we see, and the people we see within seconds. By watching how someone acts for a few seconds, you only know about them from what you just witnessed. When we move in a week from today, how many of us are going to judge people from just the way they look? “Thin-slicing” is not foreign to us, in a way it is natural. We all know the saying, ” Don’t judge a book by its cover,” but it is easier said than done.

I never really thought about what a stranger thought of me upon meeting me for the first time. What conclusions would be drawn just from my appearance? What would I say? What would I do? As I move onto the next chapter of my life, I hope that I can change how I view and categorize people when meeting them. By allowing people a chance, it gives them an opportunity to step out of their shell, and to be themselves. You get a better understanding of them, and exactly who they are. Alright buys, back to reading I go!
